About Cherokee's PTA
Welcome Cheetahs!
The Cherokee Elementary Parent Teacher Association (PTA) would like to welcome all of our students and their families to our school! The goal of our organization is to provide the students and teachers at Cherokee with the 'extras' that make learning fun. We work throughout the school year to raise money so we can provide contributions towards many projects around the school, such as the Innovation Hub and playground equipment, sponsor Family Fun Nights and support our students’ learning by providing educational experiences such as author visits, story tellers, symphony performances, science programs, after school programs, and so much more!
For the PTA to truly be effective and representative of our school, it is essential to have involvement from as many parents and guardians as possible. Some parents may think that because they cannot be at every meeting or be at school during the day, that they cannot be a member. That is simply not true! Whatever your level of availability, there are so ways that you can help - whether it is done from home, work, or school. When you volunteer, you will get to enjoy interacting with your children and their friends, connect with other parents, build friendships within the PTA and accomplish tasks that make a real difference in our school.
Whether you have 30 minutes or a couple of hours, your ideas, time, and talents can be a real asset to our PTA. The PTA also offers many ways for not just Moms, Dads and Guardians to be involved, so if you are an Aunt, Uncle or Grandparent, please reach out and we can match your availability and interests to a needed tasks.
Join Us
By becoming a member of the Cherokee PTA, you are helping to bring programs such as COSI (Center of Science & Industry), Trunk or Treat, Field Day and so much more to our school. In addition to these programs, the $10 membership fee helps to purchase classroom supplies and support various family events, not provided by the district. Becoming a member does not require that you volunteer or even attend our monthly PTA meetings or events, but it does provide you a way to help. Our monthly PTA meetings are open to any parent, guardian or staff within the Lakota District and new faces are always welcome.
We are excited for all the new adventures that the 2024-2025 school year holds for our Cheetahs. The PTA has many fun events planned throughout the year and we are excited that we are able to continue supporting our Cherokee students and staff in person.
